Clubbed Thumb Reading Series
Picture

I'll be playing the role of Rachel in a staged reading of Tylie Shider's new play I regret to inform you. Directed by Colette Roberts, the reading takes place on May 26th, 3pm at The Wild Project (195 East 3rd Street, NY, NY).

I regret to inform you follows Rachel, a jaded social worker, who quits her “day-job” to relentlessly pursue an unlikely career. “If you have a dream, this play is for you.” – @theplaywright

RSVP for your spot at www.clubbedthumb.org!

Whittier at ArtYard!
I had the pleasure and privilege of spending the third week of May out of town as an artist in residence down at ArtYard in Frenchtown, NJ. I was part of an artistic residency focused on the development of a fantastic new play. I spent the week working with a superbly talented & insightful group of creators; I am full.

Join us on Saturday, May 21st, 4pm at @artyardcenter for a reading of Tylie Shider’s (@theplaywright) new play, Whittier, directed by Andrew Binger (@andrew_binger) and produced by Art Yard & their Guest Theatre Curator, Deonté Griffin-Quick (@deontegq).

Whittier is a multimedia docudrama that follows a diverse community of neighbors quarantined in Whittier, Minneapolis, days after the murder of George Floyd. Whittier is inspired by the Minneapolis-based graffiti, lawn signs, and murals created in protest of George Floyd’s murder. The piece is adapted from focus groups, interviews, and small talks the playwright conducted with neighbors, small business owners, and community leaders of faith during the 2020 uprisings in his neighborhood.

The ‘Whittier’ cast includes Brian Anthony Wilson, Andrew Baldwin, Taylor Congdon, Kevis Hillocks, Melody Lieberman, Gha’il Rhodes Benjamin, Jarvis Tomdio, andddddd me! 😌

At the reading, we will showcase the development of the play with early choreography, lighting, and multimedia in place. This is the first time the play will be shared with an audience and the goal is for the playwright to hear the play spoken out loud in front of an audience to understand, see, and hear how this iteration of the work is received. I’m honored to be a piece of the puzzle.

Admission is Free. RSVP at ArtYard.Org.

Had an absolute blast on set today shooting a new commercial with @dylanisnice and my on screen daughter @ariannapetrus!

This is my first commercial booking of 2022 and it felt really good to start my day off having genuine fun and smiling for the camera.

Thank you to @morganquinn and my commercial team at @take3talent for always working super hard on my behalf. And thanks to @broderville for trusting me to bring the client’s vision to life and for being absolutely stellar throughout this entire process.

Super excited to see our final spot when it’s released. Any guesses on which brand/company our commercial is for? 👀 (Hint: it has to do with cars!)

Black Art Matters Year Round!
Picture
Picture
🎥🎬 I spent my first day of Black History Month chatting with @deontegq of @njtheatre about the importance of championing the work of Black Theatre/ Black Artists, dismantling the barriers of access that oftentimes prevent residents of our historically resilient communities from accessing quality theatre/arts education, AND the importance of adequately paying black and brown artists. As a full time artist and arts administrator, these issues matter to me 365 days out of the year and fuel a lot of the work that I do. ✊🏿

I appreciated the space to discuss the above through the lens of my work as an actor and to also chat about how our work at @yendortheatrecompany/ @yendor_llc is helping to alleviate the aforementioned barriers. 💪🏾

I am my ancestors wildest dreams; a lot of sacrifices were made by those that came before me that enable me to do the work that I do. Though difficult to navigate at times, it is a privilege I will never take lightly or take for granted. 🙏🏾

BSR is a food reality show where a host travels to varying Black & Brown restaurants/eateries to showcase their food, their owners, their culture/community and so much more! Especially in the wake of Covid-19, supporting small businesses (when you can afford to) is so important. Season 2 is offically here!!! I had the pleasure of visiting Jerkin' Chicken in Jersey City, NJ and it was absolutely amazing! My tastebuds and tummy were very satisfied (lol). Click the link below to check it out.

Cape May Stage in partnership with Yendor Theatre Company present a virtual reading of Lines in the Dust by Nikkole Salter.  The cast features Tasha R. Williams as Dr. Beverly Long, Parker Smith as Michael DiMaggio, and Nicolette Lynch (aka me lol) as Denitra Morgan.

Lines in the Dust tells the story of the lengths a mother will go through to ensure a better future for her daughter and explores the issue of separate and unequal schooling. Denitra, a mother and Newark resident, seeks to send her daughter to a better school in Millburn which seems like a risk worth taking, but may end up requiring a bigger sacrifice than she could have imagined.

"Lines in the Dust" explores the injustices of a public school system where the quality of your child's education can depend solely on your street address. Originally commissioned by Luna Stage to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Brown vs Board of Education, the play reveals the persistent racial inequities defining public education in 21st century America.

Y'all, I've been riding solo for my entire career to date and I'm SUPER DUPER proud of all that I've been able to achieve on my own, but even more proud to begin the process of building a team that truly believes in me! I've never had an agent before, and freelanced with one manager in the past, but today I am SIGNED with the lovely Maryann Raposo and the "Dream Team" over at Dream Maker Talent Management. We have a plan and we are ready to attack. I've already had some great television auditions, and I feel the tide getting ready to shift. Sundays are for Shooting!
I spent almost every Sunday in April shooting and working on some new and exciting projects including a short film and a webseries. Two totally different characters to craft, but lots of fun to be had! Below are some photos from both sets. Be on the lookout for more detailed information on these projects coming soon! :-)

From award-winning writer/director Amatullah-Muhyi Ali, watch as Amina Rasul, a young black-muslim woman navigates through a culturally biased society doing her best to conceal her Islamic identity. This film delves into what it means to be a black-muslim woman, the anxieties attached to each of those identities,  as well as what it means to define yourself.
In the film, I play Miriam Rasul who is the mother, protector, and confidant of Amina Rasul.

Happy New Year!
New Year, New Series!
This year, I'm excited to announce that I'll be sharing more of my writing. To facilitate this, I've created my own mini-series titled "Narratives By Nicolette." Each week I will release an episode featuring a monologue, scene, or poem that I've written. It's a way to push past fear and share more of myself and my work with the public! I spend a lot of time bringing other people's characters and visions to life (which I love doing), but I'm also elated about channeling that same focus and energy into my own work! :-)

New episodes on my IG, FB, & Twitter uploaded every Sunday.
You can also catch them right here on my website; just click the "Narratives By Nicolette" tab!

You can now rent or buy the award-winning, faith-based film 'In Character' on Amazon Prime video.
Due to backlash from his unpopular position on a controversial subject, Filmmaker, Chris Mann, loses all funding, and is at risk of losing his entire savings and his dream, 3 days before beginning production on his first feature film, "In Character." In the film, I play Candice who is an outspoken, unapologetically, bold production assistant.

Did you know that I'm also a Teaching Artist?! :-)
I spent the entire month teaching at a summer theater camp provided by Luna Stage Theatre Company in West Orange, NJ! I worked with an absolutely stellar group of elementary school students & had a blast teaching them the principles of theatre/performance while focusing on Collaboration, Creativity, Critical Thinking, & Communication.

At the conclusion of camp, the students devised original one-minute plays and presented them to their family and friends. The arts are so transformative and truly changed my life, therefore, using my work as a Teaching Artist to pay it forward & inspire our next generation of artists is always a blessing!

Happy New Year!

2018 is here and I have affectionately coined it "The Year of the Savage!" Which means it's time to begin (or continue to) unapologetically go after your heart's desires and work hard towards achieving your goals! Push out doubt and/or fear, get to work, & get it done! You got this; I believe in you!

To that end, I spent the first week of 2018 on set shooting an ad for a brand new product that's going to be an amazing advancement in medical technology!

I signed that Non-Disclosure Agreement #shhh (lol) so I can't say much else at the moment, but stay tuned for more information later this year!

P.S. This was my second time being cast as a doctor within the past 2 months...future career after acting? ;-)

Meet the Five Stereotypes...
The 2nd of a two-part teaser for my film, Five Stereotypes Walk Into A Room, is here!

After receiving diversity complaints for a show titled "White Guys Doing Stuff," an all-white writers staff is assigned to create diverse characters to avoid further criticism. However, the mostly out-of-touch group resorts to tired tropes — and their own creations disagree with their assigned characteristics, resulting in a created vs. the creators debacle.

Check out this teaser and stay tuned for the film's official release date.

Five Stereotypes Walk Into A Room is written & directed by Meghan McDonald.

Back in February, I had the honor of working on a production of Ntozake Shange's magnificent play, for colored girls who have considered suicide when the rainbow is enuf, at 4th Wall Theatre in Bloomfield, NJ. The piece was originally intended to be a staged reading, but once the team came together, we were all excited, dedicated, and eager to get off book! Thus, our production (which also celebrated Black History Month) was born. #ForTheCulture 🙌🏾

Meet Candice...
The trailer for my latest film, In Character, has officially been released! In Character is a gripping new thriller that calls viewers to question how much they are (or aren't) willing to waver from their personal convictions for financial/professional gain.
Check out the trailer below to catch my character, Candice, making an appearance around the 1:18 mark.

In Character will have its premier screening in December 2017.
Stay tuned for more details and follow the film on social media.

Shooting begins for my latest film
"5 Stereotypes..."

Last month I was cast in the short "5 Stereotypes Walk Into A Room" which is an important new film that will highlight the tv/film industry's approach to "diversity." How can the characters we see
on- screen be diverse when there isn't enough
 diversity in the writing room?
First Read Through: August 30th
Shooting begins September 23rd in NYC
